CREATIVE COURSES 2010
NEW FOR 2010 – WEARABLE ART SERIES
This year we have developed an exciting series of one day courses that, as well as teaching different felting techniques, give you glorious accessories for your wardrobe. Come along to the ones you fancy!
On each course you will create a totally unique piece of felted “wearable art”.
PLAY DAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS.
We can organise a personalised play day for you and your friends. Ideal for groups of 5 to 8 participants, the day includes all materials, equipment,refreshments and lunch in Treats at Logie. Between us we have the skills to present a wide range of textile based techniques. £50 per participant per day.

Please note:- if you would really like to do a course but cannot make the advertised date, please let us know and we will put you on our waiting list. When we have several names we will try to schedule a mutually acceptable date.
SCULPTURAL FELT
Make a small pouch and a bowl or vase.
Saturday, 13th February. 10am – 4pm
An introduction to using a resist to create three dimensional shapes – an essential technique if you wish to come on our hat- making day but also a wonderful technique in itself.
Equally suitable for beginners and those with some felt-making experience.
EMBELLISH, EMBELLISH
An introduction to using your embellishing machine.
Saturday 20th February 10am – 4pm
Learn some of the basic techniques that will introduce you to the versatility of the embellishing machine. You will make several samples and then make a small art piece utilising the various techniques you have learnt.
N.B. PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO BRING THEIR OWN EMBELLISHING MACHINES
WEARABLE ART SERIES I FUNKY SCARVES
Saturday 27th February 10am – 4pm
Cut, decorate and felt a glorious, individual scarf using pre-felt, silk fibres, fleece and yarns.
EVEN MORE OF EMBELLISH, EMBELLISH!
Create a fabulous work of art using your embellisher machine
Saturday 6th March 10am – 4pm
Using a variety of fabrics and threads, see how easy it is to make beautiful creative textile work which can then be framed or simply hung.
N.B. Participants will need to bring their own machines.

Felting for beginners
Saturday 13th March 10am – 4pm
If you’ve never tried felting – now’s the time to try. So simple, easy and fun.
WEARABLE ART SERIES II FABULOUS FELTED FLOWERS
Saturday 27th March 10am – 4pm
Learn how to felt various flower forms that can be used to make a corsage to wear on your coat, hat, bag or in your hair.
PAINT TO STITCH
Paint, print and stitch into fabric.
Saturday 17th April 10am – 4pm
Learn how to paint and print directly onto fabric to create effective backgrounds that can be stitched into and further embellished to produce really rich textile pieces.
WEAVING WISHES, MEMORIES AND DREAMS
Weaving a wall-hanging on a nature loom.
Saturday 10th April 10am – 4pm
An innovative technique where the ‘loom’ becomes an integral part of your finished piece of wall-art. You will use a beautiful piece of driftwood, a wide selection of fibres, threads and fabrics plus any personally evocative objects, artifacts or even photographs that you may wish to incorporate to create your own very individual piece of art.

Saturday 24th April 10am – 4pm
Create your own unique, felted, seamless bag to match a special outfit.
PAINT TO STITCH II
Saturday 15th May 10am – 4pm
BASIC TAPESTRY WEAVING
An introduction to simple tapestry weaving.
Saturday 8th May 10am – 4pm
Using a simple cardboard loom you will weave a small picture learning and using different ways of creating shapes and textures in your weaving.
WEARABLE ART SERIES IV COBWEB SCARVES
Saturday 22nd May
Learn how to felt a lovely cobweb scarf, using a glorious blend of merino fibres and silk.
FROM THE SHEEP’S BACK TO YOURS
Hand spinning for beginners.
Saturday 5th June 10am – 4pm
Learn the basics of hand spinning using a spindle to make your own yarn. The day covers preparation of fleece, carding, spinning and plying.
WEARABLE ART SERIES V FANTASTIC FELTED HATS
Saturday 19th June 10am – 4pm
Design and make the perfect hat for you! You need previous experience using the resist technique of wet felting (sculptural felt on Feb.13th or beautiful bags on April 24th).

GENERAL INFORMATION
One day workshops cost £50 per person including lunch, refreshments and all materials.
All courses take place in our studio/shop at Logie Steading and will be limited to eight participants.
We ask for a deposit of £15 , payable when booking your place. A booking form can be downloaded here, or pop into Diva and book, or pay by cheque – cheques payable to Diva Designs.
